Self-acceptance seems to be the most useful benefit of an AS diagnosis in adulthood. Especially when a lot of things have already turned out "differently" in life and one doesn't really understand why or in general why one can't do certain things which nearly everyone else seems to be able to. When someone with AS doesn't know he has it it is easy to sink into self-reproach. Getting the diagnosis can lead to more self-acceptance in my experience.
